Al-Muthanna – 12 September 2026
Strengthening the ability of civil society organizations to act before tensions escalate was the focus of a practical session conducted by Ishraqat Organization for Development in Al-Muthanna Governorate as part of the Sustainable Peace Initiative.
The activity provided participants with practical approaches to identifying and interpreting early signs that may indicate emerging conflicts or crises, while exploring how such information can be transformed into timely measures aimed at preventing escalation.
The session also highlighted the importance of shifting from reactive responses toward preventive and anticipatory approaches when addressing challenges affecting local communities, while reinforcing the role of civil society actors in promoting stability and social cohesion.
Practical exercises covered risk monitoring, assessment of early indicators, and linking identified warning signs with appropriate response measures. This approach aims to help civil society actors move beyond simply observing emerging risks toward being better prepared to respond at an early stage.
